Department Summary:
UC Cooperative Extension has been serving San Mateo County since 1945 and San Francisco County since 1970. The San Mateo/San Francisco County UCCE office is unique with the addition of the Elkus Ranch Environmental Center, we teach thousands of school aged children in the San Francisco Bay Area environmental education in a rural setting, thus creating a sense of stewardship to the environment.
Local Cooperative Extension services are provided our office location located at UC Elkus Ranch just south of Half Moon Bay. Housed there are our program offices for 4-H, Agriculture, Urban Forestry, the Master Food Preserver, Master Gardener, and Nutrition Education Programs. The site is also the home to Elkus Ranch Environmental Education and Conference Center, our outdoor education and conference facility.
We work in full partnership with federal, state, county and private resources.

Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Community Nutrition & Health Advisor, the Community Education Specialist III will support a school nutrition program, focused on working with local schools to improve school meal quality and appeal and increase participation in school meals. The educator will create educational materials, develop and offer nutrition education programming, and maintain a resource library. The position will also support an evaluation of the universal school meal implementation.
This position is a contract appointment that is 60% variable and ends one year from date of hire with the possibility of extension, if funding permits.
The home department for this position is UCCE San Mateo / SF Counties. While this position normally is based at 400 Oyster Point Boulevard South San Francisco, CA 94080, this position is eligible for hybrid flexible work arrangements, for applicants living in the State of California, at this time. Please note that hybrid flexible work arrangements are subject to change by the University.
Pay Scale: $28.16/hour to $37.88/hour
This position will promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position, accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division.
